ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which uses extremely thin, sterile needles to stimulate specific acupuncture points along meridians. In Eastern medicine, chi energy travel along certain meridians or pathways throughout the body. If these pathways are blocked or over-active then imbalance results. Acupuncture is one method used to restore balance in the body.

Western science is slowly unlocking the secrets of acupuncture. There are several possible explanations of acupuncture's effectiveness in pain relief. For example, stimulation of acupuncture points cause release of endorphins (the same chemicals produced by your brain in the "runner's high") and have an analgesic effect.

Regulations from the Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors allow chiropractors to use acupuncture as an adjunct therapy to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Clinically, we find that acupuncture works well in releasing muscle knots and spasms, as well as pain control.
